Commonly seen in boxers, gingival hyperplasia is an excessive growth of the gums. Also sometimes called an epulis, although there are different types of epulides.

The Clinical Veterinary Advisor by Etienne Cote, describes an epulis as a benign, gingival proliferation of tissue in the oral cavity.
