We thought the cruise was awesome!!! My goal was to have a totally relaxing experience, get a tan and not worry about work, schedules, weight, etc. Therefore we slept in, laid out, went in the hot tub and talked to random people, didn't wear watches and ate like champs! However I would recommend taking a travel clock because the rooms don't have clocks.
Just be prepared for the trip to be kind of spendy, your sign and sail card is like your credit card and if you drink at all, it can get kind of expensive. What we did is that we each could take a bottle of wine or champagne so we filled a white wine bottle with white rum and also took on a flask of Capt Morgans. That way we bought a soda card and just mixed drinks in our cabin (until the booze ran out) because they also charge for sodas, so if you drink coke or sprite, then I recommend getting a soda card on the first day.
We also learned that if you like mixed drinks there is a "drink of the day" which you can buy the special carnival cup and refill for a little less than the original price. Of if you drink beer, your best bet is to get the huge can of Fosters vs the little bottle of Corona. The daiquiris are also quite nice. Oh, and they charge you if you drink the bottled water in the room, but you can drink the water out of the faucet and they have water fountains and ice at the buffet area. I recommend taking a little water bottle to refill.
Buffets and dinners are included, but they do give you the option of going to their "fancy restaurant" (ours was called The Pinnacle) which has an additional charge. But our regular dinner served all sorts of great food, including lobster one night. And you can eat all you want, so we definitely enjoyed that night! Our ship also had a sushi bar that had sushi and tapas snacks in the early evening. No lack of food!
Our ship had a ton of entertainment, there was a piano bar, a karaoke bar, a lounge with music and a comedian, a disco, a casino, bingo, and revue shows with singing and dancing. Lots of opportunities to meet new people. There were two formal nights and there are a million and one opportunities to have your photo taken to commemorate the cruise...we didn't buy any though, just forgot until it was too late, ah well!
All in all it was a great trip, I know that I would love to got back on a ship soon! =)
